Join us for an intimate riesling class lead by importer and author Terry Theise. Terry will walk us through 4 vintages of the same wine, Hirsch’s biodynamic Riesling, all from the famous Gaisberg vineyard. The weathered mica schist of the Gaisberg, covered with brown earth, provides a nearly perfect soil for growing mineral-driven Rieslings. The grapes for this wine are grown according to biodynamic principles on terraces, and come from vines that are some forty years of age. Johannes Hirsch is regarded as one of the young, leading winemakers in Austria. Johannes makes wines with ambient yeast fermentation, whole cluster pressing, slow vinification, late bottling and release of the wines upon appropriate maturation.
