Copperplate Calligraphy for Beginners

This intensive 3-hour calligraphy workshop in Boston's historic South End is designed for the absolute beginner. You will be introduced to the tools, materials, techniques, and terminology employed to understand and re-create the elegant handwriting style called Copperplate. Pens, paper, and ink are provided. You will also receive custom worksheets and exemplars for home practice. In addition you will be able to apply your newly acquired skills to create your own stationery set. Class size is limited to 12 to ensure each student receives personalized instruction.

Emily Gallardo is a Boston calligrapher who worked as an art director for several years until she decided to start her own graphic design and calligraphy studio in 2003. Her calligraphy clients include Neiman Marcus, Hermes, and Burberry, as well as a variety of institutions and private individuals. She is an experienced teacher and believes in teaching strong foundational skills and developing good practice habits to attain calligraphic mastery.
