PROMOTING SCULPTORS AND SCULPTURE
Boston Sculptors Gallery was founded to remedy a distinct lack of opportunities in the region for showcasing sculpture. A group of 18 sculpture friends and colleagues banded together, pooled their resources and charted their vision that sculpture could and should be championed locally. Within a couple years this cooperative venture was making a name for itself. Area curators and critics along with the art-going public took notice. In 1995, three years after its founding Boston Sculptors Gallery was named "Boston's best gallery" by Boston Magazine. And the following year the Boston Globe hailed Boston Sculptors Gallery as "the most innovative gallery around". Nick Capasso, Director of the Fitchburg Art Museum and former Curator of the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, described Boston Sculptors as a "landmark" Sculptor's cooperative.
Boston Sculptors Gallery has provided the platform for its artists to develop, grow, and expand their work. Exhibitions at Boston Sculptors Gallery often spawn opportunities beyond our gallery walls.
