John Chambers is our newest board member.  John, originally from Kentucky, arrived in the South End in the fall of 1988 and has made the neighborhood his home since then.  He has lived throughout the neighborhood and has made many friends and business contacts over the years. He currently works with Webster Bank on Washington St. but has had a long career in sales, marketing, health care administration and banking.

After many years of enjoying all the amenities the neighborhood offers, he began giving back to the neighborhood when he joined the Ellis Neighborhood Association and SEBA in 2012.  Those initial steps have led him to pursue opportunities assisting business, social and non-profit associations located throughout the neighborhood. He currently is a member of SEBA, Newmarket Business Association, and the Ellis Neighborhood Association.  He works on the host committees for USES and Casa Myrna in their fundraising efforts. He is on the board for the Blackstone Community Center and works with the BCA and Community Music Center in helping to further their community engagement. Volunteer activities include working with the students and staff at the McKinley, Blackstone and Hurley public schools.

John’s passions outside of work and community engagement include following national politics, enjoying his uber-cool cat, Boo and following his beloved Kentucky Wildcats!

Please feel free to reach out to John if you are trying to locate resources or advocates for upcoming projects, as he enjoys playing matchmaker as well. He looks forward to understanding WGMS’s services and available resources in furthering business development within the South end.
